As an outdoorsman, a hunter, and a guy who’s spent enough cold nights in the field to know better (but apparently still doesn’t), let me tell you: layered clothing isn’t just a luxury, it’s survival 101. In the military, we had a saying: “There’s no such thing as bad weather, just bad gear,” but let me confess—I’ve been that idiot who thought a hoodie, ranger panties, and bravado would cut it. Layering keeps you warm, dry, and functional by trapping heat and wicking sweat, so you don’t freeze when the temperature drops. A solid base layer keeps the sweat off, the insulating mid-layer locks in the warmth, and the outer shell blocks wind and rain. Skip one, and you’re just a popsicle with a rifle. So, whether you’re glassing a hillside or just trying not to become a cautionary tale, trust me: bring good coffee, embrace the layers and leave the ego at home—it’s lighter that way!

My fellow sophisticate elite cosmopolitan @awakenwithjp decided to take a little break from our tactical extravaganza for some coffee tasting. Coffee cupping is a standardized method used by coffee professionals to evaluate the aroma, flavor, and quality of different coffees. To perform a coffee cupping, you start by grinding a small, precise amount of coffee (typically 12 grams) and placing it into a cup. Next, pour 200 milliliters of hot water (around 200°F or 93°C) over the grounds, allowing the coffee to steep for 4 minutes. During this time, a crust of grounds forms on the surface. You break the crust with a spoon, releasing the coffee’s aroma, which is carefully observed. After skimming off the grounds, the coffee is left to cool slightly before tasting. Tasting involves slurping a small spoonful, which aerates the coffee and spreads it across your palate, allowing you to assess its body, acidity, sweetness, and aftertaste. This method is widely used to compare coffee varieties, blends, or roasts.

First, I wanna thank my teammates. Thank you for putting up with me. Thank you for helping shape a kid full of piss and vinegar. <br />Thank you for doing your best to keep me out of trouble. <br />Thank you for keeping me alive.<br />To my superiors/commanders, I’m sorry for all you had to put up with. The middle age man version of me would’ve probably destroyed that kid that showed up to your team room.<br /><br />When you’re in the public eye, as I have been for some time now, you expect to be scrutinized. That comes with the territory.<br /><br />What you don’t expect is to have members of your own community rip apart painful stories that you’ve laid bare to the best of your ability. Stories that were corroborated by multiple people. Stories that passed legal review. Stories that passed extensive DOD review.<br /><br />Do I think the battle happened exactly the way I remember it 16 years later? No, I don’t. Which is why I addressed that in the introduction to my book.<br /><br />Scars and Stripes was originally called “Failure is Not Final” but the publisher thought we needed a more upbeat and catchy name. Name change notwithstanding, I’m proud of the book. I’m proud of the people I talk about in the book. I’m proud of my service.<br /><br />In this video I address some of the things the podcast charged me with. I know it will not satisfy them as they make their money by trying to bring people down with more followers than they possess.<br /><br />I also know it will not satisfy their most steadfast supporters. I look forward to hearing about 50 grenades from no name private accounts on pictures of my kids until the day I die. It’s not my first internet rodeo.<br /><br />For those of you are reasonable, I ask that you listen to what I have to say, assess whether it is more likely that I fabricated all this stuff and all the people around me and DOD just went along with it, or whether someone went through the book in the least gracious way possible in order to profit off of my name.<br /><br />In either case, I thank you all the support and attention you’ve given me over the years. I will never be worthy of it. For the first time in a long time, I have hope. I see this next generation stepping up. I see young men and women using their voice and their vote to make a difference. And I see these young, beautiful souls transforming into our future leaders.
We at @apogeeprogram believe that sovereignty begins at the family. Parents that are living a life of purpose. Intentionally pouring themselves, selflessly into their family and creating a conducive environments for these beautiful minds to become critical thinkers is a calling.
